Veterans Empowered Through Motorsports Partners with Sports Car Club of America to Give Veterans a Shot Behind the Wheel
Who: The Veterans Empowered Through Motorsports (VETM), a non-profit organization that engages veterans through the high energy and adrenaline-filled nature of auto racing. The organization seeks to connect with combat veterans to established skills and tools they acquired while deployed.
Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) is a 60,000-member motorsports organization that incorporates all facets of autocross, rally and road racing at both amateur and professional levels.
What: Working with instructors from SCCA’s Ohio Valley region, 12 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans will try their skills at successfully driving a course. Veterans will compete in an open competition against other drivers in completing the course for the fastest time.
When: 10 a.m., Sunday, August 11
Where: Ackerman Road Parking Lot

Why: The VETM encourages veterans to engage in racing to help smooth their transition back from service and to support those who serve our country. The SCCA facilitates races across the United States and encourages amateur racers to achieve their dream of going very fast behind the wheel.
