Injured Combat Veterans to Compete in Toledo, Ohio this Weekend.

6/12/ 2014 Upper Arlington, Ohio.

This Sunday, June 15th at the Toledo Express Airport, VETMotorsports will be partnering with the Sports Car Club of America and place injured combat veterans behind the wheel of sports cars. VETMotorsports is a central-Ohio based non-profit that places post 9/11 injured combat veterans behind the wheel in sanctioned autocross events or embeds them as pit crew members within select pro racing teams. VETMotorsports overall mission is to provide this generation of wounded veterans a unique and powerful non-clinical outreach program in motor sports. Having just recently returned from Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI this will be VETMotorsports' first northwest Ohio event. This weekend's event also wraps up VETMotorsports' AmazonSmile Fundraiser, which started June 12th.

“In 2013 VETMotorsports placed injured combat veterans behind the wheel in the central-Ohio area to see how effective car racing was as part of our non-clinical outreach program. Our participants were able to connect will fellow veterans and get peer-to-peer interaction. They were also challenged mentally and physically, and the overall outcome was that they benefited from the experience. This is a successful, non-traditional approach that gets veterans to work thought injures and re-acclimate themselves to civilian life. VETMotorsports has no doubt that our first event in Northwest Ohio will be a success. Every day 22 veterans commit suicide. By embedding veterans into positive environment, VETMotorsports is attempting to provide direction and empowerment,” stated VETMotorsports Executive Director and Founder Peter Cline.
