VETMotorsports Warfighter Hired On by Latus Motors Racing Triumph Team

COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 15, 2015 – A combat-wounded United States Marine veteran who was embedded with MotoAmerica Supersport team Latus Motors Racing through the VETMotorsports program has been hired on by the team for the remainder of the season.

Sgt. Chad Clickner, who was first embedded with the team during the Road Atlanta weekend in April, was wounded during his second tour of duty with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He was previously deployed to Kandahar and Kabul, Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom.  He was honorably discharged in 2009.

“We were so honored to have Chad with us at Atlanta, and were so pleased with his attitude and abilities that we decided to hire him on as a crew member,” said Latus Motors Racing Team Owner George Latus, who fields the #50 Castrol / Triumph Daytona 675R for rider Bobby Fong.  “He’s proof positive what an incredible resource our returning veterans are, and why they deserve every opportunity available to them in the American workforce.  We’re grateful to VETMotorsports for bringing us together.”

VETMotorsports is an award-winning, non-clinical outreach program that honors and empowers injured warfighters through active participation in motorsports.   The program was created to provide inspiration and motivation to combat-wounded, post-9/11 warfighters by making them part of a new team and giving them a new mission.  VETMotorsports recruits participants, embeds them with professional race teams and covers all expenses for them a caregiver to take part in the experience.

“This couldn’t possibly be a better outcome from our standpoint, as well as for Chad and the team,” said VETMotorsports CEO Peter Cline. “Our mission is to help injured warfighters re-engage as civilians, and when that re-engagement leads to opportunities like this, we couldn’t be more pleased and gratified.  We wish Chad and the Latus team nothing but success the rest of the season.”

As a Triumph factory team, Latus Motors Racing is also participating in Castrol’s VETMotorsports Performance Match Fund, which awards bonuses to VETMotorsports based on participating Triumph teams’ on-track results in 2015. The cash rewards for those achievements are as follows:
